Legalizing Documents for Malaysians Students

Sorry I am afraid this post could only benefit Malaysians, however usually is the same for any other countries, the procedure are similar.

This post is about how to legalize documents to be used oversea and while applying for visa.

1. Go to your university or school to certified your certificate ( original + photocopy), if your school is too far, you may choose the following ways

There is a small fee charged for certifying true copies at notary public, commissioner of oath and embassies, however if this is requirement you better do it then, if not , best is to go back to your school

2. Certified at Ministry of Education, this is to certified your certificates from private universities and colleges in Malaysia , for governmental, it could be another department, but I am sure is situated at Putrajaya as well.

Putrajaya Holdings Sdn Bhd,

Blok 1, Menara PjH,

No. 2, Persiaran Perdana, Presint 2,

62100 Putrajaya, Malaysia.

Tel: 603 – 8883 8888

The certified true copy will look at below

3. Take the copy, and bring to Ministry of Foreign Affairs to legalize it

Wisma Putra
No 1, Jalan Wisma Putra
Precint 2
62602 Putrajaya

It cost RM 10 per page of legalizing, you might need to wait for about an hour, depending on the amount of people and the amount you need to legalize. The people inside there are very helpful.

A legalized document will look like this

4. Your documents is now ready to apply for visa, bring it to embassy and ask embassy to legalized also, this is usually part of the requirement for universities, it could be different for different countries.

HOW TO GO TO PUTRAJAYA

The easiest way to go is by ERL train from KL SENTRAL, it cost RM 950 one way ( as for June 2009), then from there you can take the Nadi Putra bus to anywhere you want, the drivers are very very helpful, just let them know the department you want to go, it cost only RM0.50 per ride.

The other way is by taking bus to PUTRAJAYA, there are buses from a few areas in town, from KL SENTRAL and from KELANA JAYA STATION also.

If you drive, one could easily go to PUTRAJAYA by following the airprot signboards, it will take around 30-45 mins to reach there by driving.
